Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about business coaching with Mark.
Business Coaching
What is a Business Coach?
A business coach partners in your growth — a seasoned guide who helps uncover blind spots that may be holding you back. The coaching focuses on leadership refinement, profitability increases, and marketing strategy sharpening. A business coach offers clarity, strategy, and the support you need to lead with confidence.
Should I invest in a Sydney Business Coach?
Think about any great sports team — they all have coaches. Why would running a business be any different? Working with a business coach helps you fast-track results and achieve in months what might otherwise take years when going it alone.
What is the difference between Business Coaching and Mentoring?
Coaching is structured, short-term, goal-focused, and action-oriented with measurable results. Mentoring is long-term, relationship-driven, and focused on sharing experiences and wisdom. Mark's approach blends both — the structure and accountability of coaching plus the wisdom and long-term support of mentoring.
Work with me
How do I know if Mark is right for me?
The best way is to book an obligation-free initial chat. Mark's success is measured through client experiences since 2007. It's important that there's a mutual connection and fit — that's why the first conversation is always free.
Is there a lock-in contract?
No. There are no lock-in contracts. Mark believes you should stay because of the results you're achieving — not because you're contractually obligated. You can also take advantage of the Love It or Leave It guarantee.
How often are coaching sessions?
Session frequency is tailored to your needs and goals. Most clients meet with Mark fortnightly or monthly, with additional ad-hoc sessions available when needed. Quarterly review sessions are also included.
Do sessions happen in-person or online?
Both options are available. Mark works with clients face-to-face at his Pyrmont office or via video call. Many clients find a mix of both works best.
My Guarantee
What results can I expect from coaching?
Results vary depending on your starting point and how much you apply the work. Clients have achieved outcomes ranging from significant profit increases (one client achieved 350% profit growth in 10 months) to improved work-life balance, stronger teams, and successful business exits.
What is the Love It or Leave It guarantee?
If you put in the agreed-upon work and are not completely satisfied, you can leave and receive a full refund for your last month's coaching fee — no questions asked. Mark is that confident in the results his coaching delivers.
How long before I see results?
Many clients notice improvements within the first few sessions — especially around clarity, focus, and accountability. More significant business results typically emerge over 3-6 months as strategies are implemented and habits are formed.
Getting Started
What happens in the first session?
The first step is a casual 15-minute introductory call to break the ice. If there's a good fit, you'll then move to a 90-minute discovery session that covers Mark's coaching style, your business insights, growth opportunities, and actionable takeaways.
What industries does Mark work with?
Mark has worked with business owners across more than 20 industries including professional services, retail, construction, hospitality, health, real estate, technology, and more. The principles of good business are universal.
What size business does Mark work with?
Mark primarily works with small to medium business owners — typically those turning over between $500K and $10M annually, though he has worked with businesses of all sizes. The key criteria is that the business owner is committed to growth and willing to do the work.
Goal Setting
What kinds of goals do business owners typically set?
Common goals include reducing costs, increasing profit margins, improving team culture, growing customer retention, launching new products or services, and achieving better work-life balance.
How often should I review my business goals?
Mark recommends quarterly reviews to assess progress and adjust your strategy. Annual goal-setting sessions help you set the broader direction, while 90-day plans keep you focused and accountable.
What if I'm not sure what my goals should be?
That's exactly what the initial sessions are for. Mark works with you to uncover your true objectives — both business and personal — and helps you define what success really means for you.
Financial Planning
Do I need to be financially literate before starting coaching?
Not at all. Mark works with business owners at all levels of financial knowledge. The goal is to build your understanding gradually, focusing on the metrics that matter most for your specific business.
Will coaching replace my accountant?
No — Mark works alongside your accountant and other advisors. While your accountant focuses on compliance and tax, Mark focuses on helping you understand and use your financial data to make better business decisions.
